Safeguarding
Little Hoole Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the physical and emotional welfare of every child, inside and outside the school premises and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment so that all children can Believe, Grow & Achieve.
Current Safeguarding Policy 2024 - 25
All staff within the school have a responsibility to promote the welfare of children and report any incidents or potential signs of neglect and/or abuse to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr. D. Stammers (contact school on 01772 613026 or email head@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk)
The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mr. D. Chapman (contact school on 01772 613026 or email dchapman@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk)
The Designated Safeguarding Governor is Mr. J. Barwise (email bursar@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk)
What does the school do if they have concerns?
All members of staff at the school have undergone Safeguarding and Child Protection training. This is updated on a regular basis and helps us to stay aware of any potential safeguarding issues.
If a potential safeguarding issue arises, it is passed onto the Designated Safeguarding Officer and due process is followed. In some cases, a meeting may be arranged with the Designated Safeguarding Officer to help assist and resolve the issue.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’ welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with the child’s parents or carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
How can parents help with keeping children safe?
- Make sure all addresses and contact numbers are up to date;
- If someone different is picking your child up, please let us know;
- Be at school on time every day at 8.45 am and 3.15 pm;
- Notify the school about your child’s absence – unexplained absences are a key trigger for concern;
- Take full note of the advice to parents if you are accompanying a class trip and ensure that you attend the briefing meeting;
- Share any concerns you may have about another child with the Headteacher.
We are happy to talk further with parents.
As part of Lancashire Council Local Authority we are members of the Lancashire Safeguarding Children Board, which is our Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)
