Little Hoole Primary School

Enabling All to Believe, Grow & Achieve

David Owen

Co-Opted Governor since 2021

Although not born and bred in Lancashire it has been my home since marrying a Lancashire Lass over 30 years ago.

I have strong connections with Little Hoole primary School since my Father-in-Law, my Wife and both of my children attended. Whilst my (now grown up) children were at primary school, I joined the Governing body as a parent Governor and remained so for 9 years culminating in my taking of the Chair just in time for the 2012 Ofsted Inspection. I resigned for personal reasons but have missed my involvement in school life since.

In 2021 I became aware that Little Hoole were looking for Governors and so I applied for another stint. Why? Well I find it an outlet for skills I don’t usually get to practise during my day job. I get satisfaction from ‘doing my bit’ and hope that staff, pupils and the wider community benefit.

I’m a career Civil Servant working for an Agency of Defra enforcing legislation at farms, factories and warehouses. Occasionally helping to deal with animal disease outbreaks too. The nature of my work lends itself to School Governorship also.

I’m a keen motorist and enjoy watching motorsport, driving and showing my classic car although I leave the spanner work to the professionals.

In 2019 I was elected to Little Hoole Parish Council and enjoy helping maintain Little Hoole and Walmer Bridge as such fabulous places to live for all age groups.
