Toni Cadwell
Parent Governor - Elected in September 2023
My family and friends are from Much Hoole, Tarleton, Hesketh Bank, and Banks, where I currently live with my two boys who attend Little Hoole. Therefore I am familiar with the local environment, and the values and beliefs of the community, in which our school has its place.
Through my work at the Environment Agency, I review research to assess the risk from emerging chemicals in the environment, and support the development of regulation and strategy with Defra and multiple partner agencies. I also lead on the response to external enquiries received by the programme, including those from customers, media, and government. When required I respond to incidents throughout Cumbria and Lancashire, involving floods, drought, fires and wider pollution events.
Before becoming a parent I successfully bred and competed Highland Ponies, spent days with my camera out on location, and got creative with my staple gun (and fabrics) back at home. Now I support my children’s growing interests with Leyland Barracudas and Tarleton Rugby Club. I value the chance to watch them thrive and enjoy life with their team mates, whilst listening to music, audiobooks and catching up with other parents.
As a person living in today’s society, and a parent of an autistic child, I understand the challenges faced when navigating busy lives and the growing pressures on ourselves, and most importantly on our children. Through my role as a governor, I encourage inclusivity, effective communication, and future proofing, to build resilience into our school community. Appointed in September 23’ I am relatively new to the governing board, yet I look forward to contributing during my time here, and learning lots along the way.
